Síológ Childrenswear
"If you want a child's mind to grow, you must first plant a seed"
(Unknown)
Síológ (the Irish for seedling) ring true to their name by offering ethical and sustainable clothing for kids which allows parents to take the "greener option" with their children, laying a foundation for future sustainable choices by their little ones.
Sustainable & Ethical Fashion
Whilst the team at Síológ understand that the majority of brands are at different stages on their sustainability journeys, they do work off of a checklist of sorts before agreeing to stock Irish Kidswear brands. More specifically, they look for a combination of the following with regard to brands products & processes:
-
organic - GOTS certified - Oeko Tex certified - fair wages and working conditions - natural - renewable - recycled - recyclable - biodegradeable - compostable - cruelty free - plastic free - hand made - small batches - locally designed and/or produced
In addition, their packaging is always plastic free and either recyclable or compostable. Stocking over 30 brands at the time of writing and with everything from kids wellingtons to t-shirts and dresses, the old adage of "theirs something for everyone" is definitely true when it comes to Síológ.
Shop Irish, Support Irish
Not content with knocking it out of the park from only a sustainability point of view, the team donate 1% of total turnover to LauraLynn, Ireland's Children Hospice. This element in particular is why we wanted to shine a light on Síológ. Like ourselves, they recognise that as a business you can make far reaching impacts if you allow yourself to think outside of the idea that profit is everything a business ought to stand for and contribute to society.
Another way in which they support those around them is simply the very nature of their business. By operating, they provide a platform for Irish independent brands to sell their products. In essence, without Síológ, many of these great brands would not get the exposure they deserve.
